We are truly blessed to have a team of dedicated deacons who faithfully serve the practical needs of our church family with compassion, integrity, and joy. As servants of the congregation, our deacons play a vital role in supporting the ministries of the church and ensuring that everything functions smoothly and effectively. Their humble service reflects the love of Christ and enables the elders to focus on prayer, teaching, and spiritual oversight.
Biblical Role of Deacons
The ministry of deacons is rooted in Scripture and modeled after the example set by the early church. In Acts 6:1–4, when the apostles faced growing needs within the congregation, they appointed men “of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom” to oversee the daily care of believers. This established the biblical pattern of deacons meeting the physical and practical needs of the body while supporting the spiritual ministry of the elders.
Our deacons take this calling seriously, serving faithfully and sacrificially so that the church may flourish in unity and purpose. Their actions embody 1 Timothy 3:13, which says, “Those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.”
Committed to Serving Others
Our deacons are committed to meeting the practical needs of our congregation with a servant’s heart. Whether it’s coordinating maintenance and improvements to our facilities, assisting those in financial or physical hardship, helping care for our widows, or organizing church events and ministries, their behind-the-scenes work is an essential expression of God’s love in action. Following the example of the early church in Acts 6 and 1 Timothy 5, they seek to ensure that no member of our fellowship is overlooked or without care. Through their service, they demonstrate that caring for one another, especially those most vulnerable, is a vital part of the body of Christ.
Open and Approachable
At Bethany Bible Chapel, we deeply value connection and community. Our deacons are approachable and eager to help in any way they can. If you have a practical need, would like to volunteer, or simply want to learn more about how our ministries operate, we encourage you to reach out. Like the deacons in Acts who were attentive to the needs of others, our deacons seek to serve with grace, humility, and a listening heart.
A Heart to Serve
Guided by the Holy Spirit, our deacons are committed to reflecting the servant-leadership of Jesus Christ, who said in Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” They view every act of service, big or small, as an opportunity to glorify God and care for His people. It is their honor and privilege to serve the Bethany Bible Chapel family and to help create a welcoming, well-cared-for environment where the love of Christ can be clearly seen and felt.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our deacons are here to serve with joy and humility, ensuring that every part of church life works together for the glory of God and the good of His people.
