SUNDAY SCHOOL

Goals

Bethany Bible Chapel's Sunday School involves children ages two through 8th Grade. Our desire is to provide a safe, secure and loving environment where children feel welcome and parents feel comfortable leaving their children. Specific goals of our Sunday School include:

  • encouraging children to begin and to grow in a personal relationship with Jesus,
  • to acquire a rich understanding of God's Word and its application to their daily lives, and
  • to develop a lifestyle of worship, obedience and continual reliance on Jesus.

We also want to provide fun opportunities for the children to serve God at whatever age they are, to develop friendships, and to reach out to their friends and neighbors.  We, who serve in the program, consider it a privilege to partner with parents in the spiritual growth of their children.

About the Program

The ministry runs concurrently with the Teaching Time each Sunday from 10:30 - 11:30am.  Our Sunday School is based on the school calendar year. Each classroom has been designed to meet the developmental needs of children as they grow and progress throughout the year. Children are placed into age-appropriate classes on the day of our Fall Kickoff and will remain there until the following September.

Visitors....Welcome!

Your child will receive a friendly welcome, a small gift and an escort to their classroom. We are happy that you are with us!

About the Curriculum

Our children's program is currently using curriculum by A Beka called Joyful Life.

Joyful Life Distinctives:

Basic Bible truths in every lesson

In addition to the Bible story, each lesson includes Bible truths which teach and review basic doctrine through questions that children can understand and remember. As they answer simple questions such as Who is Jesus? Who wrote the Bible? and Is all of the Bible true? Children learn the fundamentals of the Christian faith and grow in their knowledge of God and His Word.

Teacher training in every Teacher Guide

Every Teacher Guide begins with valuable instruction for both new and experienced teachers. Procedures are suggested for telling Bible stories, teaching new songs and memory verses, and even managing a classroom. Other topics include teaching children how to pray and leading children to Christ. Throughout the curriculum are more helpful ideas and suggestions for effective teaching.

Emphasis on learning

A life that is focused on God is one that is full of joy - and that is the focus of the Joyful Life Sunday school curriculum. Our goal is not to entertain but to teach the Bible in a way that children will learn and remember for life. We believe that the Bible itself is "entertaining" and, what is more important, that it is relevant to our lives today. Centered on the Word of God, this program not only interests children through colorful visuals and exciting Bible narratives, but it also educates them in the ways of the Lord and molds their lives for Christ.

Built-in review to ensure learning

The Joyful Life program features a unique built-in review to ensure that children remember previous lessons and that the Scriptural principles they have learned remain with them. Every lesson includes time for review and specific material for that time. This applies not only to the Bible lessons, but also to songs, verses, and Bible truths.

Our prayer is to present Christ to children for their salvation and to train them in the Christian way of life.  Each lesson challenges children to live for God.
